Kranj with mountains in the background

This excursion includes a visit to the historical cities of Škofja Loka and Kranj, both renowned for a picturesque old city centre and fine examples of medieval architecture.

Kranj, the fourth biggest city in Slovenia, was granted its city charter back in the 13th century, due to its development as a commercial centre. Its partially medieval old city centre is situated on an elevation above the Sava and Kokra rivers.

The town of Škofja Loka boasts more medieval features than any other place in Slovenia. The tour of its old city centre includes, among other things, Škofja Loka Castle, the Church of St. James, built in the 15th century, and the Old Town Hall.
