Tourist events in Ljubljana in 2008

Ahead of us, there are first a few work-free days and then a relaxed summer. As soon as nice weather is here to stay, it will be pleasant to spend more time outdoors. During the summer, a large number of open-air events co-financed by the Ljubljana Tourist Board will be held in the old city centre, on and along the Ljubljanica river, in the Slovenska cesta road, and in the Tivoli park.

Ljubljana Tourist Board wins a MITT 2008 award in Moscow

The Ljubljana Tourist Board has been awarded for excellence in the promotion of Ljubljana tourism to the Russian travel market. The award came from the Organisational Committee of the recent Moscow International Travel and Tourism Exhibition (MITT 2008).

Ljubljana Tourist Board wins the 2007 bronze Sower award

At the 10th Slovenian Tourism Forum, organised by the Slovenian Tourist Organisation in Rogaška Slatina, the Ljubljana Tourist Board was awarded a Bronze Sower, a commendation in recognition of creativity and innovation in Slovenian tourism, for its interactive online map of Ljubljana.

The beginning of December festivities in Ljubljana

On Monday 3 December 2008, Ljubljana will see the beginning of traditional December festivities opening with an event entitled People, Let's Turn on the Light!, at the end of which festive lights will be switched on across Ljubljana. The festivities will continue until 2 January 2008, the closing day of the festive fair held in the city centre's Cankarjevo nabrežje embankment and the final day of the programme of events held in the centrally located Prešernov trg square. Throughout the month, the Slovenian capital will be particularly charming, welcoming and attractive to numerous visitors from home and abroad.

December 2007 in Ljubljana

December festivities in Ljubljana are set to begin on 3 December 2007 with a traditional event entitled People, Let's Turn on the Light, which will conclude with the turning on of the festive street lighting across the city. Festive events will continue until 2 January 2008, the closing day of the festive fair held in the old city centre's Cankarjevo nabrežje embankment and the final day of the programme of musical events held in the centrally located Prešernov trg square. Ljubljana tourism season

In July 2007, Ljubljana's three Tourist Information Centres recorded 38,191 visitors, an 11 percent increase over the same month last year (34,489). During the first seven months of this year the Tourist Information Centres were visited by 136,203 people, 19.8 percent more than in the January to March period last year.

Renovation of Ljubljana's Kresija Tourist Information Centre

The Tourist Information Centre situated in Kresija building in the Stritarjeva ulica street will be closed for renovation from 29 June to 10 July 2007. The renovation will be part of the activities carried out to prepare for 2008, an important year for the Slovenian capital. Current hotel statistics indicate that Ljubljana can expect a record number of visitors next year.

Announcement of the winning proposal for a brand for Ljubljana

Back in 2005, the Ljubljana Tourist Board in conjunction with 27 partners, all key players in the city's tourism market, managed to attract funding from European funds for the development of tourist destinations.
