An increasing awareness on the importance of the Meetings Industry as a growing segment of tourism has spurred the development of related facilities and services in the city. Its meeting venues are a suitable option for events of different format and type for up to 2,000 delegates.

Facilities are available in the Cankarjev dom Cultural and Congress Centre, several hotels (Grand Hotel Union, Lev, Mons, Domina Grand Media, Slon and M Hotel), some scientific and economic institutions, in a number of faculties and other venues, which also provide modern technical support up to international standard.

The largest structure as well as the pioneer in the conference business is Cankarjev dom, a multi-purpose centre that also represents the driving force behind the city's cultural and artistic scene. Opened in 1980, it features 56,000 sq m of event space and it can accommodate 5,000 visitors at the same time in several auditoria and rooms ranging from 20 to 2,00 seats. On top of 1,000 arts and cultural performances, Cankarjev dom welcomes about 250 national and international meetings and convention-related events a year. Its Congress Agency also has an experienced Professional Congress Organiser team, which can assist Clients in the full planning of events held either in the Centre, or elsewhere in Ljubljana and Slovenia.

The most important among the hotel venues, the four star Grand Union Hotel & Conference Centre (built in 1905), can be described as a "rising star", since it has recently (in 2002) extended its meetings facilities with the refurbishement of a beautiful Secessionist congress hall.
